Indianapolis Colts sign Caesar Rayford, cut Jake Kileen; Give a few tight ends tryouts

The Indianapolis Colts have signed OLB Caesar Rayford and cut OLB Jake Kileen. They also gave TE Dante Rosario a tryout.

The Indianapolis Colts made a position swap by signing Rayford and dumping Kileen. Kileen was already a longshot to make the roster. Rayford has experience in the CFL and more recently the AFL where he was one of the best pass rushers in the league. On paper, he seems to have a bigger upside than Kileen. He will have to compete at an already crowded position, but who knows, he could be one of those guys that surprises. He's a big guy at 6'7, 265 pounds and is fairly athletic. He knows how to get to the quarterback. Although he's a longshot now and many see him as a camp body, he could surprise.

The Colts also gave tight end Dante Rosario a tryout. The former Panther has over 1000 yards in his 6 year career. He was a decent player on the Panthers for a few years but was replaced by Greg Olsen. Rosario spent last season with the Chargers, and had a 3 touchdown performance against the Titans. The production is somewhat there. Rosario would be joining (if signed) a very crowded position which includes Fleener, Allen, Cunningham and Weslye Saunders.

The Colts also checked out Randy McMichael and Cornerlius Ingram. McMichael was a good starting tight end for the Dolphins for years, and then spent several years with the Chargers as a solid backup to Antonio Gates. He's getting up there in age, and could serve as a solid veteran to the young players in this group. All of these guys are under 24 years old. Ingram has had a lot of injury problems in his NFL career, so it will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy, and if he is healthy, to see what his impact will be.

After several quiet days, including no big news from OTAs, the Colts finally made some moves.

Ray Lewis in Talks for Reality Show

According to a person close to this situation, it seems that former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is in talks for a reality show.

Ray Lewis has been retired 3 months now, but he's still making news. The future hall of fame linebacker is in talks for a reality show. He will be following in the footsteps of Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner and a couple other football players/personalities to host a reality show. The details of what the show is about and when it will start have not been worked out, and as mentioned, they are still in talks.

We at everything-colts.com are the first ones to announce this story.

San Diego Chargers sign Dwight Freeney

Former Indianapolis Colts defensive end and outside linebacker Dwight Freeney has signed a two year deal with the San Diego Chargers.

Well it didn't take too long for the Chargers to grab Freeney. After losing Melvin Ingram for essentially the whole season, the Chargers needed to find a good capable replacement. Although disapointing last season, Dwight Freeney wasn't horrible with the Colts. He did pretty well as a pass rusher and improved as a run stopper. He did struggle with some injuries, but all in all, it wasn't horrible.

Freeney could be a good fit for the Chargers. He has a year under his belt in that 3-4 system, he has a good front 7, and he's playing on natural grass in a hot place. That's always good for older pass rushers.

Freeney signed a 2 year, 8.75M dollar deal.

I wish him the best and thank him for all the great years in Indy!

Projecting the Indianapolis Colts' Roster

The Indianapolis Colts signed a lot of free agents and added 7 more rookies in the draft. Let's see how I think their roster will look now. Everything is not in order.

OFFENSE (26 players)

Quarterbacks

Andrew Luck

Matt Hasselbeck

Chandler Harnish

Running Backs

Vick Ballard

Donald Brown

Kerwynn
Indianapolis Colts Rookie Minicamp Recap

**Back from a 5 day hiatius**

The Indianapolis Colts wrapped up their annual rookie minicamp over the weekend, and there were some interesting and surprising things that happened.

The first thing that stood out at the minicamp was that Josh Chapman, who didn't play a snap in his rookie season last year, was taking first team reps. It's good to see Chapman healthy, as he's a talented player when he's on the field. Had he been healthy around draft time last year, he would have been a 2nd round pick. Many expect Chapman to be the answer down the line, but imagine if he can start having an impact now?!? That would be a bonus. It's obviously not certain if he will start, and I guarantee you that this was just a test by the coaches, but still, he didn't look bad, and proved that his knee is alright. The nose tackle spot is a very intriguing spot on the Colts.

Hugh Thornton is being placed at right guard and looks quite good there. He seemed comfortable and it looks like a good fit, even though it seemed that he would be better at left guard. Just goes to show you his fantastic versatility. Pagano said that he wants "rookies to stay and one spot and let them grow there". That could be a good and bad thing, but there is tons of potential for Thornton at the right guard spot. They desperately need a guy to replace Mike McGlynn there. However, him starting is far from being a lock.

Mr. Irrevelant Justice Cunningham looks very good. Many knew that it was going to be tough to make the roster because of 3 good tight ends in front of him. He needed a good minicamp and a training camp to have a good chance. He did half of that this weekend.

John Boyett is still injured. That's not encouraging and let's hope he gets better quick or his career could be over before it starts.

Bjoern Werner looked comfortable in the 3-4 system. Coach Pagano said that "up close and personal... it was impressive". Those are great words from a great coach. Pagano doesn't just say that about anyone. Werner looked good in the 11 on 11 drills and even though he thought things "were moviing very fast" he seemed to hold his own out there. He has a unique stance to the position, and it's clear that he has a lot of learning to do, but this is encouraging considering it's his first real time in a 3-4 system.

To those thinking that it was the end of the road for Adam Vinatieri (because of the 2 rookie kicker signings), well it looks good for Adam. The two rookie kickers did not impress and look to be just camp bodies.

Some undrafted free agents making some noise include Daxton Swanson and Sheldon Price. Swanson impressed many with his good playmaking ability, making some very nice plays. Price was more under the radar, but he impressed, and looked better than Swanson overally. He definitely improved his chances of making the roster.

Should be interesting to se what happens in the next couple of weeks!

Colts sign Khaled Holmes

The Colts have signed their 4th round pick, center Khaled Holmes.

Just an hour after signing Montori Hughes, the Colts sign Khaled Holmes. The Colts selected Holmes in the 4th round, with the expectations of being a future starter. For now, he'll compete with Samson Satele for the starting spot. He was going to compete with Shipley as well, but Shipley was traded today.

With this signing, Bjoern Werner is now the only Colt rookie who has not signed. He should sign in a week or two.

Holmes had a 4 year deal worth approximately 2.5M.

Keep coming back for more details.

Colts sign Montori Hughes

The Indianapolis Colts have signed 5th round pick (defensive tackle) Montori Hughes.

Montori Hughes was picked in the 5th round after the Colts traded up to get him. Hughes is a risky prospect because he's had a lot of off the field issues, including being kicked off his football team and having to go to a D2 school. However, he's very talented and could be a solid player for the Colts in the future.

Hughes is expected to compete for a nose tackle job, but is not the favorite in that competition. He will most likely be a backup next season.

This is the 5th pick that has been signed by the Colts. Only Khalid Holmes and Bjoern Werner have yet to sign. Holmes should sign within the next couple of days, and Werner will only sign in a couple of weeks.

Hughes signed a 4 year, $2,317,052 with a cap hit of $457,763 in Year 1 .

Keep coming back for updates.

The Indianapolis Colts have reached an agreement with 3rd round pick Hugh Thornton and 7th round pick John Boyett.

The signings continue to the Colts signing two more players. They are now up to 4 players, and now have 3 left to sign.

Hugh Thornton was selected in the 3rd round and is expected to compete for the starting guard spot (and is a favorite to get it). He is a good versatile guard from Illinois. He can play anywhere on the O-line.

The Colts also signed running back Kerwynn Williams, who was selected with the first pick in the 7th round. He is expected to compete with Delone Carter and Donald Brown for the backup running back spots. Williams is a speedy little running back with big play ability.

UPDATE: Hugh Thornton signed a 4 year $2,705,380 deal and his cap hit will be $541,345 in Year 1. Williams' contract details have not been released yet.

Keep coming back for updates.
